November 4, 2022

The South – Adriatic Connectivity Governance (SAGOV) initiative was successfully implemented by the Cooperation and Development Institute from 2018 to 2021 and co-financed by INTERREG Italy-Albania-Montenegro Programme.

The Territorial Cohesion Agency of the Republic of Italy has collected 80 “flagship” projects from Interreg 2014-2020 and SAGOV is selected as one of the 10 best practices projects in the category of Transport and Mobility. The objective of the collection process of these projects is to highlight the best results that emerge in the 2014-2020 programming cycle on the basis of two criteria: relevance and sustainability. The selected “flagship” projects have produced effective, measurable and lasting changes in the territories involved.

According to the Territorial Cohesion Agency of the Republic of Italy, the SAGOV project has increased the visibility and coordination of connectivity initiatives in the area of Albania, Montenegro and Italy (Region of Puglia) taking connectivity into consideration not only from an infrastructural point of view but also as an engine for growth and employment, for investment support and strengthening social, economic, cultural and human capital.

The main goal of the SAGOV project was to promote connectivity networks in the South Adriatic area, with a focus on the maritime transport infrastructure. The project could provide an exchange of best practices, singled out respective challenges and came up with concrete examples of integrated governance in the policy-making of strategic connectivity projects in this region.
