The National Youth Congress (NRC) and Cooperation and Development Institute (CDI) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on May 9th, taking an important step forward in joint strategic projects and initiatives. The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by the Executive Director of NYC Ms. Dafina Peci, Executive Director of CDI Ms. Krisela Haçkaj, and the General Coordinator of Tirana EYC 2022 at NYC Ms. Aspasjana Kongo, in the presence of members of the two organizations.

Through this memorandum, the parties agreed on the participation of Tirana EYC 2022 in the 8th edition of the Tirana Connectivity Forum (TCF) to strengthen and intensify cooperation between the parties during the implementation of the program “Tirana European Capital of Youth 2022”.

“It is important that thanks to this cooperation we highlight the needs and demands of young people while coordinating them with the mechanisms and policies of the European enlargement and integration process,” said Ms. Haçkaj.

Tirana Connectivity Forum is an annual forum that invites to Tirana various actors and policymakers involved in the dynamics of enlargement, regional and European cooperation, and youth cooperation. The TCF2022 edition is part of the official European Year of Youth calendar, announced by the European Commission. The cooperation will strengthen youth involvement in EU policies and maximize the impact of the “Youth is European” program through liaison with European Union institutions in the framework of the EYY.

“The youth integration and the creation of the necessary conditions for their activation, participation, and empowerment, are key for our joint work in the upcoming year, based on the Tirana EYC 2022 program and their strategic objectives.” quoted Ms. Peci in her speech.

NYC and CDI have previously collaborated on various projects and initiatives that aim to support young people to become partners in reforms, democratic processes, and European integration.

NYC is a youth umbrella organization established in March 2013 in Tirana with the mission of activating youth organizations to strengthen the role of young people in society, highlight youth issues, and advocate for solutions.

CDI is a Think Tank founded in 2000, based in Tirana, Albania. As a politically independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization, CDI’s mission is to improve the quality of public policy through fact-based research and analytical studies.

NYC and CDI share the same values and principles on the empowerment of young people and their role in advancing the European integration processes in Albania. Both parties support and promote the active participation of young people in decision-making processes as well as fostering their cooperation with policymakers and other actors.
