Democracy in progress Shadow Progress Report on political Copenhagen criteria in Western Balkans EU candidate states

The project aims to produce a shadow report on the political Copenhagen criteria in Western Balkans EU candidate states. This publication will represent an alternative progress report produced by the civil society and address issues currently neglected in the European Commission’s progress report. Besides the publication, the implementing partners will organize 4 roundtables – in Serbia, Montenegro, Albania and Macedonia – and a series of interviews and consultations with the representatives of the civil society from the four EU candidate states.
The first specific objective is to bring focus of the relevant political actors and the wider public to the basic political Copenhagen criteria and the level of their fulfilment by Western Balkans states.
The second specific objective is to provide an analysis and data on fulfilment of political Copenhagen criteria of Western Balkans states that could be used in future research and production of EU reports.
The project is led by Centre for Contemporary Politics (Serbia) and is supported by European Fund for the Balkans through the Think and Link Regional Policy Programme 2017. Cooperation and Development Institute will cover the respective part of research and activities in Albania.
