The Berlin Process (BP) reinvigorated the European perspective of the SEE6 by offering a high-level political platform for cooperation among regional leaders, EU member states, and civil society. What began as a diplomatic initiative has matured into a dynamic platform for regional integration, advancing solutions in transport, energy, youth mobility, and the Common Regional Market — and offering the SEE6 a unique opportunity to shape their own accession narrative.
Since its launch in 2014, CDI has been a committed contributor to the Berlin Process. Through policy research, implementation tracking, and inclusive dialogue, we bring local insights and civic voices to what is often a state-driven agenda. Our work highlights progress, identifies gaps in national commitments, and promotes a participatory process in BP related areas of policy-making. By anchoring the Berlin Process in evidence and regional perspectives, CDI helps ensure it remains relevant, responsive, and aligned with the broader goal of EU membership.
